The Chrysler Building!

Introducing... The Chrysler Building!

Located on 405 Lexington Avenue between 3rd and 4th Avenues, the Chrysler Building is an amazing place to get breath taking views and pictures. Located in the busy streets of the Turtle Bay neighborhood in Manhattan, The Chrysler Building was designed in the Art Deco Style before it became popular in the 1960s. The Chrysler Building went under construction in September 1928, and opened up to the public on May 28, 1930.

History

William H. Reynolds, who was the building contractor, teamed up with architect William Van Alen to build what eventually became the Chrysler Building. What Van Alen planned to do was have a decorative jewel crown made entirely out of glass, with all the windows three times the normal size. He also wanted the building to be 807 feet tall.   However, all of his ideas proved to be too costly for Reynolds. Consequently, he sold the lease and design to Walter P. Chrysler, who worked with Van Alen to create the Chrysler building we know today.
